Favorite Photo of the Week!

                                                                    My oldest son

This is a rare moment, not the smile but actually catching this beautiful smile in a photo.
My son has a gorgeous smile, however when it comes time for pictures to be taken he comes out with his picture smile or he makes some random goofy face or better yet he does his best to get out of the way of any picture taking being done. So any chance I can get of capturing this smile is a feat in itself.

Well that was embarassing

So.... Our electricity went off and I was unsure what was going on. I called the electric company and spoke with someone who told me that the smart meter on our house had sent a signal to the company and that there was a power outage. He then gave me a number to call and report the outage and to find out an estimated time for the power to be turned back on so I do this and the estimated time for power restoration is 2pm. Ok so here we go 2 little boys and myself in the dark for 2 and a half hours...sounds like fun right :-). Well eventually 2 o'clock comes and sure enough all of the lights come back on and we are officially back on the grid. Then comes a knock on the door and the man from the power company stands before me and announces that he has restored the power and then he proceeds to say " Your breaker on the outside was flipped and that is why the power was off" I did not know what to say, I had not even thought about checking the breaker box. I stammered out an apology for not checking it and then feebly announce that my husband is at work (yes apparently the only thing to pop out of my mouth is I can't flip the breaker back on with out the assistance of my husband) so the nice man from the power company then shows me how to flip the breaker back on and as I am continually apologizing for him having to come out for such a trivial problem he says no problem that's what we are here for. I am sure he will be telling this story when he gets back to work, home, etc...     :-)

Being a stay at home mom

The life of a mom is a busy life for anyone who is lucky enough to be blessed with, in my opinion, life's greatest blessings, children. I however have only recently became a stay at home mom and I now have a new found respect for the many women and men who are stay at home parents. I am by career a nurse and I have spent the last seven and a half years working while my husband has been primarily at home with our 8 year and 2 year old son's. I always knew he was busy, yet I always thought (mostly to myself, but occasionally out loud) that it could not be all that hectic or that difficult. I now feel like I owe my husband a huge apology. I thought there would be lots of time for crafts and hobbies and all sorts of things, maybe reading a good book or two I really did not realize that being a stay at home parent is a go go go kind of job and by the end of the day you are completely exhausted. Don't get me wrong it is amazing having the opportunity to be at home with my little one' it really is the most rewarding experience of my life but it is definitely just as busy as if I were at an out of the home job. So to all the mom's and dad's who have done this for year's, hats off to you. :-)

Hi There

I guess that is as good a way to start as any. Let me introduce myself, My name is Amanda and I am the mother of two beautiful little boys. My oldest son is 8 and my youngest is 2, I am also expecting a new arrival in October whom we have not found out the gender of yet. My children are my world as is the case with every parent. I have not always been a stay at home parent, actually I am fairly new at this adventure, I am a nurse by career. I love nursing and have always loved working with people, especially elderly people whom I have a tender spot for, but I never seemed to have enough time with my children. My husband has always been the primary stay at home parent because financially it has just worked out the best for us that way even though I always knew I was missing out on a lot by being gone so much of the time. With me now expecting our third child and with us recently moving from Michigan back to Texas we decided that I would stay home and he would take on the career ( I am also enrolled in college classes, career change to elementary teacher in the works :-).  ) So for the last 6 months I have had the joy, and the hectic craziness of being a stay at home mom.
Although being a mom is the most important part of my life I also love taking on new adventures of sorts. I some how always find myself wanting to try new crafts, hobbies, recipes etc.. I have spent an unknown amount of money ( lets definitely leave it unknown because we would not want to let my DH in on that little tid bit :-) ) and time on all of my new found idea's that at the time I always just know I will love and be great at. Let's just say I don't always love everything and I am by far great at most things, but I am willing to try anything. There are plenty of things I do try and enjoy however. I have started this blog so that I will hopefully be able to make share some of my experience's in motherhood with other parents, grandparents etc.. and also be able to share some of my hobbies and ideas with others as well. So here's to lots of new friends, new idea's and new adventures.
